close up with a grasshopper

With my camera always at the ready, I was sitting in my kitchen when I noticed a cute little grasshopper who just seemed to want his portrait taken…

the patio screen wasn’t the best backdrop, but I decided to get a few where he sat before trying to relocate him.

I tried using my hand to block some of the backlighting

I eventually shoo-ed him to a better setting for detail shots

I like your new friend (and my nickname with Cindy, my photography mentor, is “grasshopper,” the name that the blind monk used for David Carradine in the old TV series “Kung Fu.).
